About Laura

Laura brings a wealth of knowledge and experience as an Applied Learning educator, working as a VCAL, VET and Pathways Leader in the Northern suburbs of Melbourne since 2016, alongside 11 years of classroom teaching experience. As a classroom practitioner, Laura has driven her career towards supporting true inclusion within Applied Learning programs, working with CALD communities and at-risk youth.

Most recently, Laura has been part of a curriculum working party, reporting into the VCAA, on the curriculum for the Victorian Applied Learning certificates and is abreast of the requirements for implementing the new programs.

To support her practice and ability to develop the capacity of teachers,  Laura also works as a Sessional Academic at both Australian Catholic University and Victoria University in the Bachelor and Master of Education programs, specialising in Data Informed Practice, Literacy Intervention and Instructional Practice.

  • Nominated VCAL Teacher of the Year 2018
  • VCAL Student Achievement Award Winner 2017
  • Conducted Applied Research, through ACU, in the field of Applied Learning
  • Reviewed the Personal Development Skills Curriculum framework through VCAA 2019
  • VCAL Quality Assurance Panel Member Northern Region 2016-2020
  • Successfully obtained three substantial grants (totally more than $30,000 to implement Applied Learning Programs
